I was born in Miami, Florida on 9/14/60. I wanted to be a fighter pilot as a kid, but after watching the moon landing in 1969 I changed that to Astronaut. After spending a lot of time at the drafting table in high school, I gave up an engineering scholarship for broadcasting school.
Before I graduated I got a job at the Miami Seaquarium training Killer Whales and Dolphins. After 3 years there, I worked for Apple Computers for nine months traveling around the country doing demo’s and for a couple of seasons I was on Miami Vice (OCB on camera background).
My first Radio job was at a small AM station in Homestead Fl. 1430 WQDI (country format). The station closed and I started flying for Metro Traffic Networks as a traffic reporter. I spent a lot of time on both the west and east coasts of the U.S. doing radio. I worked for WAXY, Y-100, WKIS, WIOD and WSHE in Miami. In Los Angeles I worked for Metro Traffic, KLOS, KFWB and many others.
After Hurricane Andrew I lost everything and moved to Gainesville in 1993 and workied as a contractor for Cox Cable. While there I ran into a guy from South Florida who told me I should be back on the airways. That’s when I started working for K-Country doing the Lov’in or Leav’in show. After about five years I switched over to the Rock Station WIND-FM. My hobbies are riding my Harley, skydiving, flying, surfing and camping. I am single with 2 rat terriers Doobie and Ruby whom I love very much. Why work when you can be a DJ….the greatest job in the world.Keep Rock’in!! Charlie McGraw
