The Thespian Troupe from Forest High School will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee conceived by Rebecca Feldman with book by Rachel Sheinkin, music and lyrics by William Finn on April 29th, April 30th, and May 1st.  Performances will start at 7pm inside the school’s auditorium located at 5000 SE Maricamp Rd, Ocala, 34471.  Tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 for students and $10 for adults.  For more information, call 352/671.4700.

The University of Florida Alumni Assoc. in partnership with the University Athletic Assoc., Gator Boosters, and the Marion County Gator Club will be hosting a Gator Gathering on Monday, May 4th, at the Ewers Century Center. CHAMP promotes optimal health in children ages 6 to 12 who have asthma and are at the higher end of the growth curve. SSVF helps veteran families to quickly gain stability in permanent housing. Mommy and Me Storybook Tea
The GFWC Gainesville Woman’s Club is hosting “Mommy and Me Storybook Tea” on May 2, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Mommies, grandmothers, aunts, friends or neighbors can bring a young child or children to the Mommy & Me Storybook Tea. Children’s costumes are optional. There will storybook characters, crafts, photo booth, tea sandwiches and desserts. Proceeds will benefit the Guardian Angel Medical Dogs, Inc. 2015 Ag Fest & Master Gardener Plant Sale
The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale & Ag Fest on May 16, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville). The Master Gardener Plant Sale will have a variety of herbs, annuals, perennials, natives, trees and more will be available at exceptional prices. Master Gardener volunteers will be on site for advice on selection and care of your plants. This annual plant sale is a fundraiser for the Alachua County Master Gardener Volunteer Program. The Ag Fest will be providing information on the following: beekeeping, small farm goat management, growing mushrooms, raised bed gardening, free soil pH testing and much more. Also presentations are scheduled on the following topics: Growing Fruit in Alachua County, Bee Pollinators & Pesticides and Cooking Matters. Young People's Comic-con
Looking for something to do with the family? Want to introduce your kids to their first comic-con? Want to give your kids a fun break from testing? FHS Book club is holding the first annual Young People’s Comic-con from 10am to 6:30pm, April 25th at forest high school's cafeteria. There is a $5 entrance fee for anyone between the ages of 4 and 18. Children under 4 and Adults are free. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Because this event is for young people, adults must be accompanied with kids! How cool would it be to celebrate Star Wars before the new Star Wars movie comes out this summer? Both the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion will be at our comic-con. The two organizations are known for their charitable work they do for different children groups. We will have members from both the bad side and good side of the force that kids can meet. We are even going to have a couple of R2D2s. Members will be doing demonstrations and displaying props such as helmets, weapons, and even Han Solo in Carbonite! Calling all Pokémon fans. The Local Pokémon league will be there to spread the word about their organization (for all ages) and show you how to play the game. If you already know how to play, join in. Do you play any role playing games with your friends? Meet your friends at the event in our gathering area we have set up for you. We are also holding a Super Smash Brothers Melee, Project M, and Smash 4 Tournament. You must be signed up by 11:50am the day of the event. We will have many other activities that include trivia contests, costume contests, and a fan art contest. There will be some games and photo opportunities. Kids under 10 can join the elite group of superheroes by taking the official superhero challenge. This includes some tasks the aspiring superheroes have to win against some villains we have rounded up special for the occasion. We will also have vendors and food available.
