FAUX 5K TO BENEFIT OCALA CIVIC THEATRE Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Brick City Center for the Arts.
What is a Faux-5K? It's all the festivities you love about a 5K run – the camaraderie, the celebration, the entertainment – but without the running. You read that right: No running. No joke! For crying out loud, it’s JULY!
The Ocala Civic Theatre “To Run, or Not To Run” Faux 5K invites participants to lace up their sneakers, pin on a numbered bib, and snap a photo at the finish line – all without breaking a sweat. Participants are required to register in advance. “Runners” may enter as individuals or as a team. The registration fee is $25 and includes a race number, T-shirt, and swag bag.
Participants will cross the start/finish line when they enter Brick City Center for the Arts (23 SW Broadway Street, Ocala, 34471) and will be ready to enjoy the party. Chair massages, light bites, a cash bar, and wonderful silent auction prizes await the “runners.” Participants are invited to wear their most colorful running gear, costumes, or any casual wear. Tutus are encouraged! Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Runners.
There are three easy ways to register: in person at Ocala Civic Theatre (4337 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, 34470), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; by telephone at (352) 236-2274 during the same hours; and online 24/7 at www.ToRunOrNotToRun.eventbee.com. Registrations will be accepted until July 15, so don't delay!
The Theatre has eight official Spirit Stations which will welcome registered participants who stop by to “train” for the Faux-5K. Each location offers a discount for runners and will give a token (one token per person/per visit). Prizes will be awarded at the July 18 event to the individual and team that collect the most tokens. Additionally, prizes will be awarded to the runners who collect tokens from all eight official Spirit Stations.
Spirit Stations are Blue Highway Pizzeria, Stella’s Modern Pantry, La Cuisine French Restaurant, Gator’s Dockside, Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grill, Miller’s Ale House, Scrambles, and Wing House. Participants are encouraged to upload photos of their “training” sessions to the event Facebook page: To Run, or Not To Run: Faux 5K to Benefit Ocala Civic Theatre.

The Fantasists at Acrosstown Repertory Theater
Presenting: Our first ever Acrosstown Youthtroupe Production: The Fantasists by Randy Wyatt!
Take a trip with us into a world that seems as familiar as Hogwarts and Narnia, rife with all the fairy-tale tropes and trappings– like evil ice queens, snow lions, and wizarding contests– and then take a left turn at Albuquerque and you’ll be at our production of Randy Wyatt’s The Fantasists.
Two students who aspire to be Fantasists– storyteller-wizards who can bring their stories to life– match wits in a battle royale for the title. But these contests are never as simple as they seem, are they? When their stories’ characters have their own aspirations perky Floriad and competitive Somnia will be forced to work together in their final test. Will either or both succeed? And why doesn’t the-Gnome-Who-Lives-in-a-Lake-but-Doesn’t-Know-Why know why he lives in a lake?
This clever, magical story is guaranteed to please children of all ages (especially the ones who have to go to work for a living), and will be the inaugural performance of ARTY– The Acrosstown Repertory Theatre Youthtroupe.
A limited number of tickets will be available at the door starting 30 minutes before curtain, cash only, please
