Friday, July 4th
  • The Ocala Jaycees will present the 45th annual God & Country Day on Friday in northwest Ocala, corner of U.S. 27 and County Road 225A, near Golden Ocala. The event will feature bounce houses, water slides, live entertainment, food vendors and crafts. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. This event is free.
 
  • Red, White and OSO Blue: A Salute to Our Troops at Circle Square Cultural Center, 8395 SW 80th St., Ocala. Admission is $19. The celebration starts at 7 P.M. For more information visit www.csculturalcenter.com or www.ocalasymphony.com 
 
  • On Top of the World hosts a free Independence Day festival from 5 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. at Circle Square Commons Town Square. The event Includes fireworks, children's activities, WWII planes, skydivers, face painting and performers Second Slice and Norman Lee.   • “The All-American Paynes Prairie Home Companion,” a performance modeled on the NPR show hosted by Garrison Keillor, returns as this week's special “Free Fridays” concert on the Fourth of July from 8-10 P.M. on Bo Diddley Community Plaza, 111 E. University Ave in Gainesville.
 
  • The City of Alachua will hold its annual Fourth of July Celebration on at the Hal Brady Recreation Complex from 3 p.m. - 10 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 P.M. The City of Alachua has dubbed its celebration "The Largest Small Town Fireworks Display in America," plus there are dozens of activities for the kids, including a petting zoo, bounce houses and water slides.  This year kids can also take advantage of the spray park and skateboard park located on site.  For the adult audience there are several unique vendors, bingo contests, dancing groups and live musical entertainment to name a few.  Without a doubt the event has something for everyone and of course the hottest fireworks around.
 
  • Independence Day Celebration in Micanopy begins at 11 A.M. with the parade on Tuscawilla Road followed by a Fish Fry from 12N-2P.M. at the Micanopy Historical Society Museum. End the day at Micanopy Ball Park - Carson Roberts Sports Complex with a bounce house for the kids from bounce house 5:30 P.M-8:30 P.M. and fireworks at 9 P.M.
