5 time TONY NOMINATED play HAND TO GOD at the Hippodrome!
A New York Times and Time Out New York “Critics Pick” and hailed as the “Best play of the season” by the Huffington Post, HAND TO GOD has been praised from coast-to-coast as one of the most original new theatrical works of our generation.
“5 stars out of 5. This is a major new work, a satirical social commentary masquerading as a silly farce about a demonic puppet.” BritishTheatre.com
In a small Texas church, children are taught to obey the Bible in order to evade Satan’s wrath. But no one could have expected what happens when one devout young man’s sock puppet takes on a totally shocking personality all its own.
In this hilarious and lightning-paced comedy, a foul-mouthed sock puppet named Tyrone riffs on everything from faith, to family, to the lustful and anti-social stirrings that lurk deep inside the hearts of the devout people of this small Texas town.
“Full of insight and laughter socks it to the audience…The crowd went wild” The Times
“It can’t be outdone – and shouldn’t be missed.” New York Daily News
“Flat-out hilarious. A true tour de force.” The New York Times
“Ribald and wickedly funny. Sesame Street meets The Exorcist.” The New Yorker
“Filthy humour and a possessed puppet. What’s not to love?” The Sun
“Hand to God is an explosive blast of raucous, hilarious, dirty fun”
Official London Theatre
“The funniest and filthiest puppet glove punch-up I’ve ever seen”
“Avenue Q meets The Book of Mormon with elements of The Exorcist”
